Rab’s Aeon series of packs were designed with technical alpine ascents in mind. And, yes, they excel in the high peaks, but the same features that make them so good when seeking out big objectives also make them fantastic day packs no matter the excursion. It’s just another example of how the British brand with North American headquarters in Colorado continues to craft gear that exemplifies the best of what core outdoor brands can bring to pro adventurers—and the masses.

The Ultra 28 is the perfect tool for gear-intensive forays. Like Hermione Granger’s magic bag, it swallows up a lot more than seems possible from its small, compact size. Add in a light suspension system highlighted by nifty double sternum straps; blissfully light shoulder straps; and a pre-curved, mesh back panel; and you have a pack that can handle trail runs, peak bagging, technical climbs, and jaunts with the family and snacks in tow.
