The sales receipts at outdoor specialty retailers have been counted, with NPD Group revealing 2022’s fastest-growing brands at core shops.
The winners of NPD’s third annual U.S. Outdoor Sports Retail Performance Awards were released Tuesday in concert with the recently ended Outdoor Retailer Snow Show in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Picture Organic took the top spot in the apparel category. The French sustainable brand garnered a steady stream of visitors to its booth throughout the three-day OR show as buyers perused their fleece pullovers, snow outerwear and wetsuits.
Other winners on NPD’s fastest-growing brands list included Thule in the accessories category, Rumpl for camping, Stanley in equipment accessories, On in footwear, K2 for snow sports equipment and Liquidlogic in water sports.
“We are excited to kick off the new year celebrating the successes of companies that are playing an important role in the outdoor marketplace,” NPD President of Softlines Joanne Sackett said in a statement.
NPD found outdoor specialty stores’ U.S. sales rose 7% year-over-year to $7.9 billion for the 12 months ended in November.
The overall U.S. outdoor industry counted sales of $27.9 billion for the 12 months through October, which is up 5% from a year ago, according to NPD data presented this week at OR.
