Protect Our Winters (POW), the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association, and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team are hosting an event at the USANA Center of Excellence in Park City on May 2.
According to a release, with the Progression 2024 event, POW is harnessing venture capital to advance its mission of combating climate change.
“Progression’s mission is to identify the most innovative companies in the venture capital landscape that align with materially advancing a non-profit’s core purpose,” POW said in a news release.
One aim of the event is to highlight startups in the process of fundraising that have the potential to make significant progress in POW’s fight against climate change.
At the event, investors will have the chance to hear from six companies that both support POW’s mission and represent “exciting business opportunities.” All six companies are actively fundraising.
The Progression committee members include:
- David Weinstein, founder and CEO of Freshwater Advisors
- Willie Ford, founder and CEO of Givego
- Ian McCubbin with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
- Maria Gonzales, vice president of development at Protect Our Winters
- Patrick King, strategic partnerships director at Protect Our Winters
- Ryan Bellissimo with Private Family Office
Founded in 2007 by snowboarder Jeremy Jones, POW helps outdoors people protect the places and lifestyles they love from the effects of climate change.
The Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association is made up of both seasoned and emerging venture capital funds and partner with the service provider firms that support the industry.
