Outdoor Market Alliance (OMA), Denver’s emerging outdoor industry hub, has named Steve Copeland as board President as the organization continues a trajectory of sustained growth. A collective of 25 independent sales and marketing agencies representing over 175 different brands in the outdoor and active lifestyle markets, the OMA has rapidly become a business nexus, hosting market weeks for retail buyers, media shows for editors and journalists, and a year-round destination for its retail partners.
Copeland is a founding member of the OMA and an outdoor industry veteran of over 30 years, leading Granite Marketing, a Rockies regional sales group representing several leading outdoor brands. In his new role as President, he is supported by fellow industry vets Tim Hattrup and Pat Davis as board treasurer and vice president, respectively.
“Our vision in founding the OMA was to not only share this space, but to share resources, best practices and expertise to elevate the businesses of the OMA members as well as our industry as a whole,” said Copeland. “What has evolved in a short time is a vibrant epicenter of outdoor industry business that is already exceeding that vision, while welcoming new ways of collaborating for shared success, which is both as intended and amazing to see.”
In less than two years, the OMA has grown and extended its market weeks for regional retailers, now hosting 4 weeks per year, seasonally. The Denver Media Show is hosted in the OMA showroom spaces, drawing over 40 media to preview new summer and winter gear offerings from industry brands twice annually. It has forged a strategic partnership with Elastic, for retailers interested in implementing their next-generation B2B tools for streamlined efficiencies in purchasing and merchandising. And, its not-for-profit vision is being fulfilled with the OMA’s $20,000 donation and gear contribution to victims of the Marshall Fire, and, most recently, a $20,000 donation to the Outdoor Lab Foundation. A celebration and check presentation to the Outdoor Lab Foundation will take place during the upcoming Denver Media Show at the OMA on July 26th.
