eVent Fabrics, recognized for producing advanced performance textiles for more than two decades, made a statement this month by naming outdoor industry veteran Shannon Walton as its new marketing and branding manager. The announcement comes amid eVent releasing its new alpineST fabrics that achieve a pinnacle level of waterproof, breathable and durable performancew. The high-performance C0 technology has challenged fabric manufacturers as the industry moves to create new PFAS-free standards.
Walton brings more than 20 years of product and advocacy knowledge to eVent through her leadership roles in brand development, marketing, and PR. Most recently she served as the executive director for The Redside Foundation that supports the health and strength of the outdoor guiding community. She previously represented dozens of top industry brands through PR and grassroots marketing as a partner with The Walton Works agency and served as PR and marketing manager for Schoeller Textil Inc., USA for 10 years.
“Shannon is joining eVent at a critical time when the performance fabric industry is pivoting away from ubiquitous PTFE fabrics,” said Chad Kelly, eVent Fabrics president. “Her unparalleled knowledge in this space will directly benefit eVent’s customers and the industry as we roll out innovative solutions that resolve the performance issues that have challenged the development of PFAS-free alternatives. Shannon’s work in product education, brand partnerships and her creative talents for gaining exposure will not only benefit eVent and our customers but will help transform the textiles market in this new age.”
Walton will work remotely from her home in the Gulf Coast and report to Kelly who sits in eVent’s Kansas City USA headquarters. In addition to her work in the North American and European markets, she will collaborate with eVent’s Asian headquarters and product development center in Shanghai.
“It’s a great time to join the eVent team,” she said. “eVent is the most nimble, approachable and, now with alpineST, the best performing PFAS-free performance fabric manufacturer in the industry. Over the years, I have seen many suppliers strive to deliver the lasting performance of this remarkable laminate. I’m looking forward to building solid partnerships with like-minded brands to deliver superior product offerings and help educate consumers about the transition to improved sustainably produced materials.”
alpineST is eVent’s second PFAS-free offering following in the footsteps of eVent BIO, a plant-based membrane popular in outerwear and footwear, introduced in 2021.
