Snow Peak, an international Japanese camping brand with 65 years of history, is pleased to grow its shop-in-shop program with California-based specialty retailer Sports Basement, launching year-round retail activations at four of its locations in San Francisco and Orange County. Snow Peak Shop-In-Shops at Sports Basement Presidio and Orange County locations are now open, with Berkeley and Redwood City to follow in June.
This substantial partnership allows Snow Peak products to be displayed at retail and explored by the consumer as they would be at the campsite. The opportunity to experience sitting around the Takibi Fire and Grill, under the Takibi Hexa Tarp, inspires the consumer’s imagination. Different types of scenes at each location show full camp set-ups including tent options, campfire displays, multi-function outdoor kitchens and ultra-light backpacking options.
“As a Japanese camping brand, we are focused on bringing our style of camping to life through investments in direct retail, as well as our Campfield in Long Beach WA,” said Noah Reis, vice president and chief operating officer at Snow Peak USA. “Sports Basement’s experience-driven approach, community, and understanding of our brand felt like a strong fit to bring our story to life. We’re excited to offer our strong California community a place to experience our products as we start this partnership, and we look forward to adding our unique events and camping experiences to further engage customers over the coming months.”
“The Snow Peak brand has long been a staff favorite at Sports Basement, especially among our most experienced backcountry staff members. When the opportunity came to partner with such a beloved company at this level, we couldn’t say yes fast enough.” says Aaron Schweifler, Sports Basement’s Chief Operating Officer. “It’s incredible to see the care and detail given to each item in Snow Peak’s inventory. It truly has to be seen to be believed, so we’re honored to be able to host such impressive, experiential displays in our stores. We’re excited to see where this landmark partnership takes us next.”
Retail partnerships play an important role in Snow Peak’s strategic retail plan, as the brand looks to offer a new way to experience camping and time outside. The Snow Peak approach centers comfort, community and slow moments in nature, focusing on the campsite as the destination.
As Snow Peak grows its shop-in-shop program, the brand touts its unique ability to attract new, young and diverse customers, with its mission to create restorative moments while connecting with nature. Snow Peak’s shop-in-shop program offers highly curated and customizable collections that reflect the consumer demands within unique geographic regions. Among other benefits, Snow Peak believes shop-in-shops help to strengthen mutually-beneficial partnerships that allow both the brand and the retailer to realize success with the customer.
