Stone Glacier, a leading manufacturer of premium outdoor equipment, today announced its complete, systematic line of technical gloves and mittens. The brand’s versatile lineup includes its Chinook Merino Gloves, Mirka Gloves, Graupel Fleece Gloves, Altimeter Gloves and Altimeter Mitts—providing comfort through dexterity in varying backcountry conditions.

The Chinook Merino Gloves are a light-duty option designed to provide ultimate dexterity in an ultralight package (1.7oz). Intended to be worn as stand-alone layers in early season or as base layers in later seasons, these slim-fitting gloves are constructed with a soft Merino6 fabric blend comprised of merino wool and nylon. The Chinook Merino Gloves feature a conductive material in the index finger and thumb, which allows users to operate navigation applications on their phone’s touch screen without removing their gloves. Additionally, the gloves incorporate a silicone dotted pattern in the palms for added grip, as well as pull loops for easy access. The Chinook Merino Gloves ($39) are offered in a Granite Grey color option, in sizes medium, large, and extra-large.

“Hand dexterity and functionality are paramount in the backcountry,” said Kurt Racicot, Founder and Lead Product Designer at Stone Glacier. “Weather in the mountains is unpredictable and can change in an instant, so we set out to design five glove and mitt options that allows users to customize their protection in every condition. As with everything we do, our gloves and mitts are as lightweight and breathable as possible without sacrificing durability and hunting functionality. This is accomplished by using the most premium materials available and blending them with thoughtful designs, and rigorous in-field testing.”

The hard-working Mirka Gloves are ideal from the work bench to the shooting range, or deep in the backcountry. Built with AX® synthetic suede, these gloves offer a snug, yet trustworthy and natural feel. The palm is perforated for breathability and reinforced with premium goat skin for an added layer of protection. The Mirka Gloves’ back features a breathable, flexible, and abrasion-resistant nylon/spandex fabric for added comfort. An articulated design offers maximum dexterity, while the AX conductive pointer fingers and thumbs allow the use of touch screens when navigating or glassing is required. The Mirka Gloves ($69) are available in Stone Glacier’s Granite Grey color, in sizes medium, large, and extra-large.

Stone Glacier’s Graupel Fleece Gloves are a universal, do-it-all option for varying conditions. A DryTex laminate material resists wind and water to maintain warmth and resist moisture, while a silicone grip in the palms provides added security while handling your gear. Conductive index fingers and thumbs allow users to easily operate their necessary smartphone apps without removing their gloves. The Graupel Gloves can be worn as standalone gloves, or as liners underneath the Altimeter Gloves or Altimeter Mitts when added warmth is necessary. The Graupel Gloves ($49) are available in the brand’s Granite Grey color option, in sizes medium, large, and extra-large.

The robust Altimeter Gloves and Altimeter Mitts are designed to keep users comfortable in Mother Nature’s harshest conditions. The two-part design boasts waterproof, breathable shells, combined with synthetic insulated liners to keep your hands warm and dry in any late-season backcountry scenario. The brand utilizes its trusted three-layer HydraShield waterproof shell to protect from wind, rain, ice, and snow. Added functionality includes MELCO-taped palms and thumbs for enhanced grip, as well as extended wrist cuffs, removeable tethers, and a wrist collar cinch system to protect from the elements. The Altimeter’s liner boasts the NASA-engineered Primaloft® CrossCore synthetic insulation for ultimate warmth, while remaining packable, lightweight, and able to perform even when wet. The Altimeter Gloves and Mitts can be worn as just shells, or paired with the included liners, the Chinook, Mirka, or Graupel Gloves underneath. The Altimeter Gloves ($149) and Altimeter Mitts ($159) are available in Granite Grey in sizes medium, large, and extra-large.

About: Stone Glacier manufactures premium outdoor equipment, most notably backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and technical apparel. Stone Glacier products are the result of 15 years of solo sheep hunts from the Dall country of Alaska to the unlimited districts of Montana’s Beartooth Wilderness. Minimizing pack and gear weight increases usable load, which in turn extends your range in the backcountry. Stone Glacier’s quest for ultralight backpacking gear began 15 years ago and has been a slow and organic process of development, testing, and refining. The brand’s goal has been straightforward: build the lightest, most durable gear using only the toughest technical materials available. After hundreds of miles of testing on the trail, years of research and design, this goal has been accomplished. Stone Glacier—redefining the capabilities of ultralight.
