Editor’s note: Sync Solutions offers complete ERP, PLM, and B2B software solutions for apparel, footwear, and gear companies across the globe. This is the second in a series of Q & A articles with founder Peter Booysen about the firm and how it solves business problems for its clients.
Q: Last time we talked about how you helped an action sports focused company, Vissla. But you have clients in outdoor, sports, fashion, and other segments, too?
Peter Booysen: Yes, we have about 350 brands as clients in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the U.S., and Africa, where we started. What a lot of brands are finding, is that as markets have changed, they need to create efficiencies around reducing manual duplications and work-arounds – they need as much automation as possible.
What we’re offering is an ERP system focused first on apparel and footwear, rather than others who have generic platforms that need to be customized. And as we’ve found, knowing about all the little details in clothing and footwear make a huge difference in the experience that our customers get.
Action sports is where we started, but we found our expertise and relationships can help apparel companies in all segments.
Q: What are some of those other accounts?
Peter Booysen: We helped Xcel wetsuits, they moved off an generic ERP platform. Bond-eye is an Australian swimwear company that’s growing rapidly in the U.S. Alps and Meters is a mountain-based apparel company with outerwear, men’s and women’s lines. Bad Birdie is a golf-fashion brand that’s blowing up.
Q: Let’s talk about how you’ve worked with Bad Birdie.
Peter Booysen: They are a fast-growing brand, and they realized they needed an apparel-specific ERP solution. Their previous solution was acquired and slated to be closed. And their reliance on manual processes gave them several operational issues, reduced their efficiency, and increased errors.
For instance, their order fulfillment required multiple repetitive steps across several systems. That led to slower response times and a lack of data visibility and reporting.
Q: How were you able to help them?
Peter Booysen: Bad Birdie is using Sync’s apparel-specific platform to manage orders, inventory, and fulfillment. It gives them seamless integration into their QuickBooks, Shopify, and 3PL provider.
As a result, they were able to significantly reduce their manual process and greatly improve accuracy. They were able to reduce the time needed to create styles and process orders and maximize inventory for both their wholesale and eCommerce channels. Reps have real-time views of on-hand and future inventory.
And a bonus: they have greater reporting capabilities, giving them the ability to make informed business decisions using real-time data.
Overall, they’ve streamlined their operations, improved their efficiency, and still been able to support their growth.
Q: What do they tell you about working with Sync?
Peter Booysen: Daniel Kiraly, a senior sales executive, gave us a great testimonial. Here’s what he said: “Synzc is incredibly efficient. With our old systems, there were 6-8 touches per order, which included a lot of manual copy/pasting from one system to another, as well as the need to run double invoicing. Sync handles 95% of this, freeing up our time to focus on more value-adding activities.” Read full case study here.
