Mission-driven adventure brand Cotopaxi is excited to announce today the recertification of their B Corporation™ status, scoring 125.6 in its latest round of testing. With a previous score of 93.6, this jump highlights Cotopaxi’s focus on consistent improvement to sustainability practices, accountability and transparency. As part of a growing community of over 6,000 like-minded companies, Cotopaxi is proud to be a part of this global network of businesses working to create a more inclusive, equitable, and responsible future.

The brand’s 32 point jump in score shows areas of greatest performance improvement across Workers, Environment and Customers evaluation sections, highlighting Cotopaxi’s success in using the scoring system as a check-in on their work towards continuous growth.

“It’s exciting to see the drastic increase in our scoring as a B Corporation, because it validates the hard work our team has done towards prolonged sustainability and conscious capitalism,” explains Annie Agle, Senior Director of Impact and Sustainability at Cotopaxi. “While a key area of improvement for us remains Environment, this most recent scoring feedback motivates us to continue working on environmental impact through reduction mapping, decarbonizing our supply chain, and moving towards even more sustainable materials.”

To achieve B Corp certification, Cotopaxi must carry-out a rigorous 360° evaluation, examining the brands’ success in prioritizing people and the planet in all facets of business. The assessment evaluates Cotopaxi’s impact in five areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. Founded on a Gear for Good mission, Cotopaxi has always focused on positive environmental impact and human aid. The brand’s highest performance area remains Governance, reflecting their emphasis of their mission at the highest levels of the company, impact accountability to the board, and diversity within the company. Additionally, Cotopaxi continues to lead in corporate philanthropy by tying giving to economic performance, as well as the effectiveness of their vetting, methodology and input tracking.

In fact, the recent release of their 2022 Impact Report showcases the many measurable outcomes of the brand’s impact work, including providing aid to more than 3.8 million people to date, joining 1% For the Planet and The Climate Pledge, and eliminating all single-use packaging from the supply chain.

“Our Certified B Corporation™ status is a path to continuous improvement as we work to operate sustainably for our planet, and improve the lives of people who work for and with Cotopaxi,” comments Cotopaxi President Damien Huang. “Our goals moving forward include achieving full Net Zero status, begin new circularity and recommerce initiatives, and to hold ourselves to high standards of accountability and transparency in our efforts. We’re honored to continue this hard work with the inspiring global community of like-minded, fellow B Corporation businesses around us.”
