Alpine equipment manufacturer Blizzard-Tecnica announced it has hired Topher Plimpton as business unit director for North America. The announcement came as the company reports steady annual growth.
Plimpton will be tasked with leading business, strategy, and team for the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Blizzard-Tecnica has experienced year-over-year market-leading growth, Chris Licata, president and CEO for Tecnica Group North America said in a news release.
“The continued success of the brands is not only critical for the Tecnica Group North American subsidiaries, but also the success of the group globally,” Licata added.
“Topher’s proven leadership, depth of experience, and passion for skiing make him the ideal person to effectively manage the business and maintain that upward trajectory.”
Blizzard is a ski manufacturer. Tecnica makes ski boots and outdoor footwear. Both have their U.S. headquarters in West Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Plimpton spent the last 11 years with Scott USA.
Since 2016, he served as business unit director, overseeing all aspects of the Scott winter sports and running categories, Dolomite footwear, apparel and packs, and Poivre Blanc apparel.
Prior to that, he managed Scott’s marketing, establishing and implementing marketing strategies that targeted retail, consumers, trade, and athletes.
Plimpton originally landed at Scott as a sponsored athlete who also knew the retail side of the business. He worked as a salesman and ski tech at the Jackson Hole retailer Teton Village Sports.
“I’ve been a skier for as long as I can remember and have always held Blizzard-Tecnica in the highest regard,” Plimpton said in a release.
“These brands have earned the respect of the ski community for a variety of reasons over the years.”
